Kiama High School into Swans Shield Grand Final

In another huge boost for Australian Rules football in the region, Kiama High School has reached the Grand Final of the 2019 Swans Shield.

The Swans Shield is a NSW Combined High School knockout competition with schools competing from across the whole state. To make the last two in the State is a massive achievement, made more remarkable by the fact this is the school’s first year in the competition.

To reach the final, Kiama High School has had to play, and win, seven consecutive games against teams from across the South Coast, Sydney and then most recently two highly fancied Riverina schools in the last eight.

In their semi-final match, Kiama High school faced the difficult task of playing against last years finalist in Deniliquin High School and in a bruising affair, the boys came away with a hard fought win by 14 points to secure their place in the State Final.

The Kiama High School team now travel to Albury to play Albury High School in the final on Monday 23 September 2019.

Good luck to Mr Poppett and all the boys. No matter the result, you’ve already done our region proud.

This achievement further highlights the Australian Football talent within the region! No longer do the South Coast just make up the numbers when it comes to football!
