Age: 16

Nickname: Umbrella… well it was last week anyway!

Position: Wing

Jumper Number: 3

Junior Club: N/A

Senior Games Played Before 2019: 13

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club? Being a bit cheeky and a pest with the youngsters

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field? Adding to the teams uniform by providing matching red scrunchies

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing? Eating and sleeping

Do they have any pre-game superstitions? Nah, none of that

Reason for nomination this round: Ella was deemed one of the best on ground in the win over the Wollongong Saints last weekend for her role in the midfield and on the wing. Her speed and ability to read the game earned her plenty of possessions and she consistently supported team mates by getting to the contest. Ella’s composure and excellent skill execution saw her hard work rewarded with a beautiful goal in the second half of the game.

Club quote on Nomination: Ella is very deserving of a rising star nomination. In 2018 Ella arrived at the club with experience from other sports but was new to the sport of AFL. Her dedication to training, including training with the Illawarra Academy of Sport team, contributed to her marked improvement throughout 2018. Ella completed a physical pre-season this year and so far in 2019 has been an integral player in the Wollongong Lions best 20. Her understanding of the game, speed and excellent skill execution make her a great addition to the team and a worthy recipient of a rising star nomination for Round 3.”

Position: Half Back

Jumper Number: 27

Junior Club: Figtree Kangaroos

Senior Games Played Before 2019:3

Favourite activity to do outside of football: Beach or Gym

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club? Most of his team mates reckon he is 25 years old but he is actually only 17!

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field? Love to “get amongst” it with the fellas, and especially in grouse moments

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing? Night before I’m at home playing 2K and eating pasta

Do they have any pre-game superstitions? My superstition is that I have to use Vick’s before I play. Great way to clear the nostrils

Reason for nomination this round: Adam has been nominated for his play on the weekend in the backline in the Kangaroos narrow loss to the Lions. His composure and solid play against one of the best teams in the competition is testament to his attitude and drive at training. Coming back to his junior club this year after a year of development in the Sydney League, Adam has shown a footy IQ well beyond his years. It will be exciting to see what Adam is able to do over the 2019 season.
