Shoalhaven Juniors Girls Only Competition Starts Sunday

This Sunday marks an historic moment for AFL South Coast with the first ever girls only competition commencing in the Shoalhaven Juniors Competition in the form of Under 13 Girls.

Pleasingly, all of the five Shoalhaven Juniors Clubs (Batemans Bay, Ulladulla, Bay and Basin, Shoalhaven and Bomaderry) will enter a team in this new age group with the focus in the first year being on development and participation.

Interest in the new competition across the region has been high and we look forward to many new girls now being provided the opportunity to play Australian Football in a girls only competition.

On the back of an amazing first year in the Illawarra Juniors and AFL South Coast Seniors competition last year, it is hoped that this new competition will also bring new players, officials and volunteers to the game and in future years we can expand to a number of different age groups.

The match ups for Round 1 of the competition are as follows:

Sunday, May 19

Bay and Basin Bombers v Bomaderry Tigers at Vincentia Oval at 11:10am

Shoalhaven GIANTS v Ulladulla Dockers at West St Oval at 11:10am

Batemans Bay Seahawks have the bye and will commence next weekend.

All clubs have waived registration fees for the season for new female players and all clubs are still looking for new players for this competition (and all mixed competitions too) so if you are interested in playing please contact Nicci Kennedy at southcoastfemalefootball@afl.com.au
