Bay and Basin Bombers Women’s Team to Compete in 2019 AFLSCW season

Following a nomination by Bay and Basin Bombers JAFC for a Senior Women’s team in the AFL South Coast competition, AFL South Coast pleased to advise that this nomination has been accepted and Bay and Basin Bombers will become the tenth Women’s side in the 2019 AFL South Coast competition.

 

The Bay and Basin Bombers will play out of Vincentia Oval in Vincentia and the clubs key contacts are as follows:

2018 has been an amazing year for female football in the region with the introduction of two Youth Girls age groups in the Illawarra Juniors competition to go with the commencement of the senior Womens competition which saw nine teams play in the inaugural season culminating in Bomaderry Tigers claiming the inaugural AFLSCW premiership in a tight contest with the Wollongong Lions.

 

These three new competitions have seen female participation grow from just 74 females across the region in 2017 to 521 this year!

 

Planning for the 2019 season is well underway and details on competition structures, rules etc for all female competitions will be finalised in the coming months.
