AFL South Coast unveil new divisions for 2019 season
The AFL South Coast have announced changes to the composition of the league’s senior divisional model for Season 2019. This will see changes to the branding and designation of the senior men’s divisions and a second division introduced for the Women’s.
A breakdown of the changes is illustrated below:
Matt Graham, Regional Manager of the South Coast said the change is a reflection of major growth of football in the region and has been well received by clubs.
“With strong local connections, clear pathways from junior to senior football and extremely professional operations from our clubs, this will allow us to continue to drive football to the next level” says Graham.
Final team numbers are yet to be confirmed but it is expected that the Premier Men’s Division will see approximately 7 clubs enter the competition.
2019 will see the first year that the AFL South Coast Women’s (AFLSCW) league has two senior divisions. Graham said this is a testament to the rapid growth of female football in the region.
“The added female division will allow us to build on the momentum of the growing youth and provide a strong pathway for talented women in the region to play at a higher level.” said Graham
“AFL South Coast is looking forward to working with all stakeholders and supporting them in this transition. It is a fantastic opportunity and we believe Season 2019 will be a very successful.”
All fixtures will commence in April 2019 with the season start dates to be confirmed in the new year.
