Round 7 Rising Star Nominee’s

Men’s Round Seven Rising Star nominee

Name: Charlie Rodden

Nickname: Hotrod

Age: 18

Club: Bomaderry Tigers

Senior Games Played Before 2019: 0

Position: Utility

Junior Club: Bomaderry

Favourite activity to do outside of football: Bike riding and fly fishing

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club? Charlie likes to consider himself the  captain of the Bomaderry under 19’s  which is essentially a third of the first grade side.

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field? On field Charlie is a courageous player who presents up hard but also works back with equal determination. Charlie is often thrown between the flanks and wings looking for a favourable match up for us or asking him to do a job for the team. Charlie trains very hard and is the strongest runner at the club.  Off field Charlie is a quiet pest who is always nearby when something is going down.

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing? Watching Friday night footy, especially if it’s the Swans.

Do they have any pre-game superstitions? Charlie believes that his body ‘is a temple’ so he worships the temple before each game.

Reason for nomination this round: Charlie is nominated for another outstanding performance for us during a tough game against the Bulldogs. Charlie won numerous hard balls, never gave up and showed leadership beyond his years. Charlie is asked week in week out to compete against much more experienced players and every week he rises to that challenge. Charlie plays the game in the right spirit, has excellent decision making and solid skills under pressure. Charlie displays all the signs that he will mature into one of the outstanding players in the league.

Name: Kayla Milham

Nickname: Not yet discovered

Age: 16

Club: Wollongong Lions

Junior Club:  N/A

Favourite activity to do outside of football: Playing soccer and playing the piano

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?  Giggling with the other young’ns and having the most frail/destroyed boots out there

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field? Being disruptive to everyone else in the team

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing? Probably hanging with Ella, eating food and getting sleep

Do they have any pre-game superstitions? No not really as long as I get my morning mocha 🙂

Reason for nomination: Kayla was competitive beyond her size in a physical affair against Kiama, earning her the Best on Ground title for the Lions. Playing in a range of positions, her athleticism and ability to read the game enabled her to support her teammates in a four quarter effort where she displayed a high level of skill execution.

Club comment: Kayla joined the Lions in 2018 and brought with her a handy skill set from a range of other sports. She is a speedy player who knows how to get herself in the right position and she is constantly improving in terms of her decision making. Kayla steadily developed her confidence on the field last year and in 2019 she has proved a very versatile and valuable player
