2020 AFL South Coast Season is GO!
After much uncertainty due to COVID-19, AFL South Coast is excited that we will see competitions commence next month providing opportunities for male and female footballs of all ages to play in 2020!
On the back of recent Government announcements on the easing of restrictions, and following Club Delegate Meetings with the three different competitions (Illawarra Juniors, Shoalhaven Juniors and South Coast Seniors) over the past fortnight, AFL South Coast is pleased to announce confirmed 2020 Season Dates (South Coast Seniors still TBC) as per below.
Illawarra Juniors
Round 1 for the nine Illawarra Junior male (five) and female (four) grades, plus Auskick, will commence on Sunday 19 July.
All grades will play a 10 round home and away season followed by a two week final series (across three weekends with no football played on the October long weekend) with the Grand Final to be played on Sunday, 11 October
Shoalhaven Juniors
Round 1 for the Shoalhaven Junior competition will also commence on Sunday 19 July.
All grades will play a 10 round home and away season meaning all teams will play each other two times. The top two teams from each grade will then play off in the Grand Final on Sunday, 27 September (with the potential of a 3rd vs. 4th “braggers cup” match for each grade to maximise participation for the season).
South Coast Seniors
The final dates for the South Coast Seniors season will be confirmed shortly, however Round 1 will commence on Saturday, 18 July.
It is expected that each grade will play 9 or 10 home and away rounds before a two or three week finals series. Further announcements on a Grand Final date will be advised by Friday, 26 June.
Team nominations for each competition are due by Friday, 26 June, from which all grade structures will be confirmed and fixtures completed with the aim of releasing by Friday, 10 July.
